ABOUT US

The LCBA has promoted the cause of good will and understanding among all people in Lycoming County for more than 70 years!

Our mission is to actively promote tolerance of all religious, civic and political beliefs to demonstrate commitment to the promotion and maintenance of the cultural, racial, and social fabric of the greater Williamsport Area and all of Lycoming County.

The LCBA engages in the following programs throughout the year:

1.  The LCBA holds an annual banquet that is open to the public.  During the banquet, two individuals from the surrounding communities are honored with the William Pickelner Brotherhood Award.  This award is named in honor of long time Williamsport resident William Pickelner, a prominent philanthropist.  William Pickelner was instrumental in the formation of the Alliance and his record of community service is well documented.  This award has become recognized in the Williamsport community as one of the most prestigious among the numerous community service awards given by many volunteer organizations.

2.  The Ray Keyes Sports Award is also awarded at the LCBA annual banquet.  This award is named in honor of the longtime sportswriter of the Williamsport Sun Gazette.  The honoree, as selected by a committee of previous recipients, is recognized as a sports ambassador for all athletes in Lycoming County.

3.  The Unsung Hero Award is presented at the LCBA annual banquet as well and honors up to four recipients that benefit the community on a volunteer basis and positively affect others without expectation of recognition or compensation.

4.  The LCBA sponsors an annual trip to the Holocaust Museum located in Washington, DC.  This annual trip is for high school and college students and has taken place every year since the Museum opened.

5.  The LCBA sponsors a Diversity Tour.  The Diversity Tour was started in 2018 to allow individuals to better understand the different cultures in our immediate area.

6.  The Community Outreach mission of the LCBA is focused on promoting brotherhood throughout the community through the use of speakers, projects, and events throughout the year.  These programs are designed by LCBA in conjunction with community leaders with a two-fold purpose: meet a specific need within the community and by doing so promote brotherhood, tolerance and harmony through the activities or functions of the project/event.
